Call for older artists

November 30th, 2016 by Robin Rodger

We are delighted to share the call for applications to take part in an exciting opportunity open to Scottish-based artists in all artforms who are aged 50 and over and are in the early stages of a new artistic career.

The lab for older artists, led by Nicholas Bone and Alice McGrath from Magnetic North, will be held at Cove Park from the evening of Wednesday 22 February 2017 till the morning of Tuesday 28 February 2017.  This lab is a partnership between Cove ParkMagnetic North, Luminate and a-n The Artists Information Company, and it offers six artists a chance to take part in a facilitated process, exploring how creativity can be nourished and how artists can challenge themselves to develop. During the lab, there will be time for individual reflection as well as creative work.

Exciting opportunity for older artists

We are looking for six people to take part in an older artists’ lab at Cove Park led by Nicholas Bone and Alice McGrath from Magnetic North. The lab is aimed at Scottish-based artists, aged 50 or over, who are in the early stages of a new artistic career. We welcome applications from artists working in any artform.

The aim of the lab is to:

  • Create a supportive atmosphere for discussion
  • Stimulate dialogue about creative processes
  • Give space and time for artists to reflect on their own creative practice
  • Make time for individual reflection

The lab will take place in February 2017. For more information and details of how to apply please see our website:

This lab is a partnership between Cove Park, Magnetic North, Luminate – Scotland’s creative ageing festival, and a-n The Artists Information Company.

Deadline for applications is midday on Wednesday 4 January.

(Thanks to immediate past President Ed Link for bringing this opportunity to our attention.)
